6th Grade Computer/Technology (45 Minimum Weekly Minutes)
• Understands computer-related terminology and how computer function
• Understands the basics of keyboard memory
• Can successfully compile a written piece using a computer program - including paragraphs, biography, and Excel
• Continues using formal keyboarding skills and increasing computer speed by at least 5 words per minute-timed typing test
• Understands copyright laws involving internet websites and gives credit to authors of electronic works
• Recognizes parts of a spreadsheet, moves among and formats cells, makes graphs
7th Grade Computer/Technology (45 Minimum Weekly Minutes)
• Develops an understanding of the development of computers and technology in the past, present, and future
• Understands computer-related terminology and how computers function
• Learns to use computers as tools for home and business
• Discusses Internet safety, ethics, and copyright issues pertaining to computer usage and giving credit to authors of electronic work
• Works in PowerPoint and Excel
• Continues improving formal keyboarding skills and increasing typing speed 5 more words per minute via timed typing tests
8th Grade Computer/Technology (45 Minimum Weekly Minutes)
• Becomes more proficient at keyboarding, increasing speed by another 5 words per minute via timed typing tests
• Proceeds to write creatively using editing skills
• Discusses ethical issues
• Reviews correct computer/software terminology
• Uses spreadsheets and databases
• Uses Excel and PowerPoint
• Merges graphics into Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Correctly formats formal papers and bibliographies
