Saint Barbara Catholic School has been performing well in the Catholic Math League/Math Bee Competition

What It Is:  Students at Saint Barbara Catholic School in grades 5 through 8 have been entered into a national math competition (Catholic Math League) this year. This competition began in 1997 as a division of Educontest and in 2009, was renamed Catholic Math League. This school year, it is being used in determining the math bee contest winners for the fifth through eighth grade classes.

All students take a total of 4 tests, each with 20 questions that must be answered within 30 minutes without using a calculator. For school scores, the 3 highest scores from each test is used to determine the team (school) score for that test.

To date, 3 of the 4 tests have been taken and the results are as follows:

School Scores

Algebra I (Grade 8) – Seventh out of 112 Catholic schools nationwide who entered scores.  This group includes some high schools.

Pre-Algebra (Grade 7) – Thirty-second out of 102 schools who entered scores.

Grade 6 – Twenty-ninth out of 106 schools who entered scores.

Grade 5 – Twenty-fifth out of 102 schools who entered scores.
