BOOK FAIR

DIGITAL LIBRARY

The Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Orange have access to a diocese-wide online lending library. The library, which contains approximately 10,000 titles, allows students at any of the diocesan Catholic Schools to check out eBooks for reading and study. Sharing such a large collection of books across all schools permits equal access to digital learning materials to every student in the diocese. This library is but one example of what sets schools in the Diocese of Orange apart from other schools.

The Diocese of Orange digital lending library is proudly funded through generous donations from the Orange Catholic Foundation. Click here to visit their website.

WHAT WE LEARN IN LIBRARY

Recognizing the importance of a life-long love of reading, St. Barbra School recognizes the importance of accessibility to age-appropriate reading books.

SCHOOL LIBRARY
The main focus of the library is to make available those books needed by student to complete their Renaissance Reading Points for classroom reading grades. The reading program is used to assess reading levels and comprehension. This information allows teachers to work with the strengths and weaknesses of each child to improve reading levels.

Students are able to check out books for one week using their student ID cards.  Fines of 10 cents per day are assessed for late returns. Students will be required to reimburse the cost for replacing any lost books.

Additionally, the library time is used to teach students how to use research books, how books are categorized, and allows access to different types of reading materials.

Incentive programs will be in place throughout the school year to promote reading.

The Annual Scholastic Book Fair held during Catholic Schools Week offers the students the opportunity to purchase books, posters, and many miscellaneous items at school. The funds raised are used to purchase additional reading materials for the library and classroom libraries.
